Diageo Post Office

!

As the main contractor, we successfully converted this protected structure, a former 19th Century Post Office, into a bright, modern dining hall for personnel at the historic St. James’s Gate Brewery. All works were executed within the Live Brewery Campus.

A project that required a comprehensive refurbishment of the protected structure, included demolition of the existing modern extension, numerous sensitive structural interventions, refurbishment of existing features such as brick, stone, and trusses. The process involved significant structural repairs, including strapping, stitching, and splicing of timber, masonry, and concrete. Extensive temporary works were required for permanent structural alterations to the walls and roof.

Additionally, a new extension was constructed using structural steel, concrete, and masonry over a basement with pile foundations. The extension houses welfare facilities and a fully equipped kitchen. All excavation works were meticulously carried out under archaeological supervision.

The works were completed with zero accidents, showcasing our commitment to safety and excellence. The entire project team are to be commended for their commitment to Diageo’s Zero Harm focus. This is another example of our ability to produce high standards of building excellence with complex construction details and finishes within the confines of a protected structure and live working environments.
