The project consisted of the stripping out of 1200m2 of a listed building over 2 floors (Lower & Upper Ground Floors) and converting it into Multi-Sensory Interactive Experience for Visitors to take them through the Medieval Origins of Brewing on the Site of the St. Francis Abbey Brewery. Duggan Lynch carried out alterations to the lower & upper ground floor comprising of the demolition and strip out of internal walls & floors, floor strengthening works to carry exhibits etc. New works comprised of new mf and grid ceilings, partitions, floor & wall finishes, the construction of an internal lift shaft & passenger lift installation, mechanical, electrical, audio visual installation & bespoke metalwork & joinery installations.
Exhibits include a Hologram Monk welcoming you to the brewery, in a monastery-like cavern, a recreation of the Old Smithwick’s Family Room with talking portraits, the modern day Brewhouse with large items of salvaged brewing equipment from the Smithwick’s Brewery just days after their final brew. The visitors enjoy a pint in the new Tasting Bar and exit through the Retail Shop.
This project was delivered on time and on budget within a very short time schedule of 19 weeks.
